Just Announced....New Workshop, November 5,6th!

If you cant attend the upcoming workshop in Cumming, GA on October 8-9, please take the opportunity to join me in November for my 2-day workshop at the James Richards Studio in Tucker, GA.  This is a great location , being the studios of Richards, one of the top painters in the country.  The workshop will be a great opportunity to pick up on some of my latest concepts and methodologies for creating colorful impressionistic landscapes in the plein air style. Workshop Description:

Join us for an exciting oil painting workshop dealing not only with landscape, but introducing cityscape features, such as buildings, people, cars, etc, as well as elements which can add life and energy to your paintings. Find out easy ways to handle these seemingly difficult subjects, and to give them a professional and painterly look.  We will plan to spend time both in the studio classroom and outside, en plein air.  This workshop will be a mixture of demonstration, short studies, and one on one assistance , mixed with a lot of fun.  This workshop is open to all painters with at least some level of experience. 

 

Before the fall

Above is my artists choice award winner from the Los Gatos Plein Air Festival this past June.  (size 12x24). The day after painting this, I fell and hurt my knee severely, resulting in over a months worth of moaning and groaning, and a real hindrance to my activity and work. (I didnt think plein air was such a dangerous sport!)
Back here shortly with info on upcoming workshops, and results of experiments with some new paint products.

heres a few pics from the recent Olmstead  Park Plein Air fest in Atlanta.  I foolishly left my camera at home during the festival and these pictures were taken in a hurry by a friend, and are somewhat misaligned.  All 7 pieces sold, and am pleased, but sorry no good clear pictures to post.  Stay tuned for results from next plein air festival....in Pennsylvania.

plein air season!

April greetings. Above is a painting from the Southeastern plein air festival in Gadsden AL, a week ago.  Its a great event and i always look forward to participating.
Several events upcoming.....The inaugural Olmstead Park Plein Air Festival, April 22-26 in nearby Atlanta, is one of the most heralded events ever. I will competing with 29 other fantastic U.S. artists in this beautiful linear park. Come by and see us paint, and attend either the gala reception on 4/25, or the public sale on 4/26.  On wednesday afternoon through saturday noon, we will be painting mostly in and around the park, so would love to have you drop by and check things out. An open quickdraw takes place on Sunday afternoon.....come on down and participiate!
After that, am off to the Wayne PA plein air festival in May, Los Gatos CA festival in June, Cashiers NC in July, and possibly a Texas festival on October.
